The world will do everything possible to ensure that Russian President Vladimir Putin loses the war in Ukraine. Including maintaining sanctions against Moscow for years to come.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau noted this in an interview with Reuters.
Putin must understand that the West is absolutely determined to resist, Trudeau noted.
"His illegal war, his escalation, his crossing of red lines, deciding to continue to invade Ukraine, means that we as a world will do everything we can to make sure he loses," the prime minister said.
Putin, he said, is making a terrible mistake.
"He commits atrocities against civilians, and he does all this because he thinks he can win. But he can only lose," Trudeau said.
Canada's prime minister also said Putin shames the memory of the millions of Russians who fought and died fighting fascism.
