The inauguration ceremony for re-elected President Emmanuel Macron took place in France.

In his first speech in a five-year term, Emmanuel Macron pledged to put the country's ecology and independence at the center of his next five years in office.
The head of state called for "tireless action" to make France a "more independent nation" and "build our French and European responses to the challenges of our century."
According to the President, he intends to lead in a "new way" by "planning, reforming, uniting" the French.
Speaking at the inauguration, Macron also mentioned the war in Ukraine and called for everything to be done to avoid escalation. He stressed the need to help democracy win and build a new peace in Europe.
At the ceremony at the Elysee Palace in Paris, the head of the Constitutional Council announced the official results of the presidential election for the first time. Among the 500 or so guests were former sitting presidents Sarkozy and Hollande.
