The Polish Foreign Ministry is concerned about the Pope's statements about the war in Ukraine. This is reported by RMF24.
Diplomats were disgusted and astonished by the Pope's latest words about the war. Until now, Francis has had trouble directly identifying the aggressor, but in a recent interview with the Italian press, he stated bluntly that "NATO is barking at Russia" and that the Alliance may have provoked Moscow to attack Ukraine.
Francis also ruled out a visit to Kyiv, but said he would be happy to talk to Putin in the Kremlin.
In response, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry cautiously reminded Pope Francis that Russia is the sole perpetrator of the war in Ukraine and repeated the invitation for the pontiff to visit Kyiv.
The Polish Foreign Ministry informally admits that the Holy See's position contradicts Polish national interests.
Diplomats are trying not to draw undue attention to the pope's statements. They claim that the dogma of the pope's infallibility concerns only matters of faith, not foreign policy. However, the Polish mission to the Vatican should work even harder to provide accurate information about the war in Ukraine.
