The Bulgarian parliament has approved the decision to repair Ukrainian military equipment at defense enterprises, but there is no question of providing weapons and ammunition. A decision to this effect was adopted by the deputies on Wednesday, BGNES writes.
The aid package includes measures to overcome the consequences of economic sanctions and humanitarian, financial and military assistance to Ukraine.
The decision also notes continued support for Ukraine's accession to the EU, assistance to Ukrainian refugees, allowing imports of Ukrainian grain to Varna and strengthening energy cooperation.
The decision was supported by 200 MPs, including those from the pro-Russian BSP party, which threatened to leave the coalition if parliament voted to grant weapons to Ukraine. Thus, the coalition in Bulgaria remains in place.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev also opposed the military assistance. The day before, he said that people making a decision on assistance to Ukraine should take into account, first of all, the safety of Bulgarians.
