Communications in Kherson and part of Zaporizhzhia region restored - State Service of Ukraine for Special Communications

In the morning, all mobile operators, using reserve power channels, resumed the supply of communication in the Kherson region and part of the Zaporizhzhia region, which was disconnected by the occupants. This was reported during a briefing on Wednesday, May 4, by Yuri Shchygol, head of the State Special Communications Service.

"Last week it became known about the disconnection of mobile communication and Internet in the Kherson region and part of the Zaporizhzhia region by the Russian occupation troops. The reasons for the lack of communication were fiber-optic trunk lines breaking and operators' equipment in these regions being disconnected from power supply," he said.

Shchygol noted that this was another attempt of the enemy to leave Ukrainian citizens without information. They do not leave hope that the Ukrainian people are as easily deceived as their own by serving distorted information.

"As of this morning, all mobile operators, using backup power channels, have resumed the supply of communications in these areas. It's pretty complicated. Communications specialists, including mobile operators, are working under fire," stressed the head of the State Special Communications Service.

According to him, there have been cyber attacks on leading media since the beginning of the war. "More than 20 objects of television and radio communications have been destroyed so far. We saw what the occupants did to the communications infrastructure in Irpen and Bucha," he said.

Shchigol also said that the service he heads has received information that the occupants are trying to switch communication stations to Crimea.

"They are blocking our communication supply channels and trying to distribute only Russian services. This is a gross violation of international law, and we have already appealed to the International Telecommunication Union to condemn Russia's actions and deprive them of their membership in that union," he said.
