The EU has officially announced the sixth package of sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, before the European Parliament on Wednesday, May 4, as she wrote on Twitter.
"Today we are introducing the sixth package of sanctions. First, we bring in high-ranking military and other perpetrators of war crimes in Bucha. We know who you are. And you will be brought to justice," she said.
Second, according to the head of the EC, the EU "exclude from SWIFT Sberbank - the largest Russian bank - and two other major banks."
"Third, we are banning access to our airwaves to three major Russian state broadcasters aggressively spreading Putin's lies and propaganda," von der Leyen said.
"Finally, we are now proposing to ban Russian oil," the head of the European Commission stressed.
"Let's face it: it's not going to be easy. But we have to work on it. We will take care of the phase-out of Russian oil," she added.
According to von der Leyen, there is a desire to increase pressure on Russia as much as possible, minimizing the impact on the European economy.
"We want Ukraine to win this war. And there is so much to rebuild right now. That's why I propose that we start working on a massive renewal package for our Ukrainian friends. This package should bring big investments to meet the needs and necessary reforms," the European official said.

Yet so much has to be rebuilt.
