British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in a speech to the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, expressed faith in Ukraine's victory over Russia and announced a new military support package, UNIAN reported.
"In the coming weeks we will send you Brimstone, these are anti-ship missile systems as well as armored vehicles to evacuate people from occupied territories and areas under threat... We are talking about a new £300 million support package," Johnson said.
He said the package would also include radars "to determine where artillery is targeting your cities, and drones to bolster your infantry and your offensive forces."
Johnson said he aims to strengthen Ukraine to the point where no one will ever dare encroach on it.
He expressed confidence that Ukraine will win the war and the stories of its victory will be retold from generation to generation.
"They will tell their grandchildren and great-grandchildren about it, that Ukrainians have taught the whole world that the brutal force of the aggressor can do nothing to the people who have chosen freedom. They will say that Ukrainians have proven by their tenacity, by their sacrifice, that guns and tanks cannot crush a nation that fights for its independence, so I believe and know that Ukraine will win. You have proved that the old saying is true: it is not the size of the dog that matters, but the size of the battle the dog came to fight. I don't know if there is such an idiom in the Ukrainian language, but I think you get it," Boris Johnson said.
He acknowledged that the West was too slow to respond to the 2014 annexation of Crimea and attack on the Donbass, and said there was no right to make that mistake again.
