Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said that the G20 cannot function effectively while Russia remains a member.
This was reported by Reuters.
"Russia has no place at the table of countries that have come together to maintain global economic prosperity," Freeland said.
She also added that Russia has violated long-standing international rules with its invasion of Ukraine.
Disagreement over Russia's presence at the meetings was on display all week, with officials from the U.S., Canada, Britain and other Western countries striking for three consecutive days whenever Russian officials spoke.
G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting Wednesday in Washington failed to agree on their traditional communiqué outlining economic policy goals as Russia blocked harsh language condemning its invasion of Ukraine.
