The international expert group analyzing the real impact of the sanctions applied against Russia has presented an action plan to increase the sanctions pressure on Russia. The press service of the Office of the President reports about it.
"This document will be the basis for the further work of our government to strengthen the sanctions pressure on Russia. We will offer our partners this list as a basis for the coordination of the introduction of sanctions. By the way, the document itself contains a provision on the synchronization of sanctions pressure from democratic countries," said Yermak.
The plan contains separate sections with a number of recommendations:
- expand oil and gas sanctions;
- expand transport and insurance sanctions;
- introduce new financial sanctions;
- identify the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism;
- strengthen individual sanctions against certain categories of persons;
- strengthen sanctions against state-owned enterprises;
- expand export controls and prohibit imports;
- impose secondary sanctions;
- increase transparency to discourage trade and investment in Russia.
This is the first document in a series the group plans to issue. Future documents will provide more detail on specific recommendations for this plan, as well as new ideas for future measures.
