Clashes occur at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem - 150 Palestinians injured

Large-scale clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians occurred on the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem just before dawn on Friday, April 15. At least 152 Palestinians were injured.

This is reported by The Time of Israel.

Israeli law enforcers note that around 4:00 a.m., dozens of young people began marching, carrying flags of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Hamas terror group. Police assured that the participants threw stones at the Wailing Wall, launched fireworks and prepared for further clashes.

According to law enforcers, they waited until after morning prayers before entering the Temple Mount to disperse the rioters. Some Palestinians barricaded themselves inside the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, from where they threw stones in the direction of the officers. Witnesses assure that Israeli law enforcers entered the mosque, further provoking the conflict. This led to clashes on the Temple Mount with the use of tear gas.

Israel's Foreign Ministry assured that the officers did not enter al-Aqsa.

However, videos emerged online from the mosque showing police detaining Palestinians. The director of the mosque reported 400 people arrested.

There are now 152 Palestinians known to have been injured. Three policemen were injured and two of them needed medical help.

Note that this year the holy month of Ramadan coincides with the Jewish Passover, which lasts for a week. Because of this, tens of thousands of believers come to the Old City of Jerusalem, where the main holy sites are located.

Recall that in Israel on April 8 there was a terrorist attack in central Tel Aviv, the victims of which were two people and 13 others were wounded.
