State Security Service investigates more than 200 cases of treason, most of them in Donbas

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating more than 230 proceedings regarding treason, two-thirds of which are in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the bureau said.

 

"Since the beginning of the hot phase of Russia's war against Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation investigators have opened 154 criminal proceedings for high treason and 81 proceedings for collaborative activities," the bureau said.

 

Among the defendants are chairmen of village councils; deputies of different levels; officials; judges, law enforcement officers and servicemen.

 

"The greatest number of cases against traitors is investigated by the territorial department of the GBR of Kramatorsk. 109 proceedings were opened for treason, 74 - for collaborative activities," - added in the department.

 

On the fact of treason, as indicated, the vast majority of cases here involve law enforcement officers. Also, the investigators of the Kramatorsk GBR are investigating criminal proceedings against an employee of one of the forestry farms, who began to cooperate with the occupiers.

 

Other territorial administrations:

 

TU GRB of Poltava initiated 15 criminal proceedings for high treason, 1 - for collaborative activities. Among the persons involved are law enforcement officers, deputies of local councils and the chairman of one of the district courts.

 

The Melitopol SSU opened 18 proceedings. For high treason - 16, collaborative activity - 2.

 

The Mykolaiv regional office of the State Border Service of Ukraine initiated eight proceedings. Four proceedings were opened for treason and four for collaboration activities. Among the defendants are three servicemen of the AFU, who in 2014 during the annexation of Crimea by Russia, betrayed their oath and went over to the side of the enemy. In February 2022, the defectors "returned" to Ukraine as part of the Russian army to conduct combat operations in the Nikolayev region. In early March, the traitors were detained.

 

The Lviv PGO opened six cases for high treason.

 

The Kyiv PGO opened five cases for treason and collaborative activities.
