United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson held telephone conversations with U.S. President Joe Biden. Ukraine was at the center of the conversation. The prime minister announced this on Twitter.
Johnson informed his interlocutor about his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky. The British prime minister was visiting Kiev last weekend.
"Our common focus remains on supporting President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom. Putin's barbaric scheme must not be allowed to succeed," Johnson wrote.
The sides also agreed to increase economic pressure on Russia. Johnson and Biden outlined ending the West's dependence on Russian energy as one of their main objectives. In addition, they decided to increase military and economic aid to Ukraine.
I've just spoken to @POTUS and updated him on my meeting with President @ZelenskyyUa in Kyiv this weekend.
