The Kremlin reacted to the U.S. Senate's decision to activate the lend-lease program, which would speed up the provision of military assistance to Ukraine. It said that this could have a "negative effect" in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
This was reported by RIA Novosti.
"Pumping Ukraine with weapons in various formats is not conducive to success in Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. And, of course, it is more likely to have a negative effect," said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
As a reminder, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed legislation that would revive the Lend-Lease program for faster delivery of arms to Ukraine. This program allowed during the Second World War to promptly supply Allied armies.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already reacted to the US Senate's adoption of the Lend-Lease law. They said that they expect all procedures to be passed as soon as possible.
