Minister of Aliyah and Integration of Israel Pnina Tameno-Shethe went to Ukraine and Poland last night at the head of an official delegation, according to the Ukrainian diaspora newspaper "Russian Jew".
Minister Pnina Tameno-Shethe will visit the border crossing between Ukraine and Poland to get a professional overview of what is happening from representatives of the Jewish Agency and Nativ on the ground. At the transit hotels, he will meet with new repatriates who are due to arrive in Israel in the next few days.
From there, the minister will travel to Ukraine to Israel's Kohav Meir Field Hospital, where she will meet with Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky and the hospital's medical staff volunteers. The minister will also visit one of the Jewish Agency's centers in Warsaw, in order to interview future repatriates, as well as to monitor and study repatriation activities.
Minister of Aliyah and Integration of Israel Pnina Tamen-Shet noted: "After 40 days of national efforts to rescue and accept Ukrainian Jews in Israel, I myself will thoroughly check the entire repatriation process. My clear instruction is not to reduce our efforts, we will work hard to get the Jews of Ukraine to a safe haven in Israel, this is our mission and our message. Already 11,000 people have been repatriated to Israel since the start of the war and tens of thousands more are expected in the near future.
This is a complex emergency operation that requires us to make sure that at every stop on the way home, new returnees receive a prompt, sensitive and comprehensive response from our field workers operating under harsh wartime conditions. I thank Keren HaYesod, Nativ, the Jewish Agency and other partner organizations for their cooperation and intensive work under the leadership of the government and the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration to ensure the safety, rescue, and repatriation of Ukrainian Jews and Jews from neighboring countries.
