The EU revealed the composition of new sanctions against Russia

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, revealed the contents of the fifth package of sanctions against Russia. According to her, they include the closure of ports for Russian ships, a coal embargo and a number of other restrictions.

"Russia is waging a brutal, merciless war, including against civilians in Ukraine. We need to maintain maximum pressure at this critical moment. That's why today we propose a fifth package of sanctions," she said.

According to her, the EU will ban the export of semiconductors, machines and transport equipment worth 10 billion euros to Russia. In addition, Russian ships will be banned from entering the ports of the European Union.

Also, added the head of the European Commission, the Russian companies will be banned from public procurement in the EU. Brussels will prohibit transactions with four banks in Russia, including VTB. In addition, a ban on imports of coal from Russia amounting to 4 billion euros a year is introduced.

"It is important to put maximum pressure on Putin and the Russian government at this critical moment," Ursula von der Leyen added.
