Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias arrives in Odesa accompanied by a humanitarian aid mission to the southern Ukrainian port city. The humanitarian aid will be handed over to Odesa city authorities.
Nikos Dendias intends to create a regular mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid from Greece to Ukraine.
According to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Greek consulate will soon be opened in Odesa, which will help solve the problems of the population and the region.
"Earlier Nikos Dendias announced plans to lead a humanitarian mission to besieged Mariupol, where thousands of ethnic Greeks live, but intense fighting disrupted these plans and aid was redirected to Odesa," Greek Foreign Ministry officials report.
At least 10 ethnic Greeks were killed and several wounded in the shelling of Mariupol by Putin's army.
According to the Greek government, more than 150 Greek citizens, ship crews and ethnic Greeks were evacuated from the area.
