Russia mined the routes from the Bosphorus to Odesa and blamed Ukraine

Russia has mined the routes from the Bosporus to Odesa and claimed that they were Ukrainian mines. Andrei Klimenko, head of the project of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, reports this.

Thus, on March 18 the captain of the port of Sochi V.L. Rumyantsev sent a warning to ship owners and captains of vessels operating in the Black Sea about the threat of mines allegedly being set off by the Ukrainian Navy, which are drifting in the Black Sea.

According to him, due to the storm conditions the anchor mines set by the Ukrainian Navy on the approaches to the ports of Odessa, Ochakov, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny are torn off and drifting in the sea. According to him, navigation is threatened in the southwestern and northwestern parts of the Black Sea.

According to Klimenko, this warning aims to prevent maritime traffic of commercial vessels in the Black Sea. Klimenko calls for the immediate introduction of a permanent NATO Mine Countermeasures Group in the Black Sea.

According to BlackSeaNews sources, it is about the mines by the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation of the recommended shipping lanes from the Bosphorus in the direction of Odesa. Andrei Klimenko notes that it is impossible to count the mines that are drifting in the stormy sea.
