Georgian Interior Minister in Parliament: I express open and full support for Ukraine

"As an ordinary Georgian and as Minister of Interior, I once again express my full and open support to our friendly Ukrainian people," Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri said during a speech in Parliament in the "ministerial hour" format. It was reported by the Georgian online edition.

According to the minister, the international community and world leaders must do everything to end the war as quickly as possible.

"I want to start the official part of the report by talking about the fighting in Ukraine and the situation in the region. For us, what is happening now in Ukraine is particularly important and painful. In 2008, we experienced and endured the consequences caused by the war, this aggression in our homeland. As an ordinary Georgian and as Minister of Internal Affairs, I once again express my full and open support to our friendly Ukrainian people.

The situation in Ukraine is very complicated and difficult, with civilians suffering. Children, women, elderly people are dying, cities are being bombed, unfortunately, the losses are high.

The international community and world leaders must do everything to end the war as quickly as possible.

The Georgian government supports Ukraine politically at all international levels and at the same time humanitarian aid is continuously sent from Georgia," Vakhtang Gomelauri said.

He also says that the Ministry is doing its best to ensure security and order in the country against the backdrop of war, noting that even the world powers find it difficult to ensure hundred-percent control of their borders.

Nevertheless, Gomelauri said that all relevant state agencies are vigilant to ensure security and maximum protection at all border crossings and at the so-called "green borders."
