The Ukrainian Economy Ministry jointly with the governments of other countries are looking for ways to transfer to Ukraine the 415bn dollars in seized foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Central Bank to compensate for the damage caused by the Russian military. This was reported by First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Denis Kudin on the air of a Ukrainian TV channel.
"Western governments have already seized $415 billion in foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Central Bank. In fact, this amount is almost enough to cover these direct one-time losses. We are counting on the fact that soon together with the governments of other countries' partners we will find a legal mechanism how this money can go to Ukraine for further recovery and compensation," Kudin said.
According to him, Russia should pay reparations to Ukraine after the capitulation of Russia. He noted that reparations come in two forms: monetary and in-kind.
Recall, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Denis Kudin on the air of a Ukrainian TV channel said that the Russian Federation has already inflicted 119 billion dollars worth of damage to the Ukrainian infrastructure.
"When the Office of the President yesterday and the day before yesterday said more than $100 billion - they were talking about infrastructure facilities. As of today, that figure has been somewhat refined, it's $119 billion. Unfortunately, with every next day of the war, this figure will grow," Kudin said.
According to him, the government is now preparing claims to international courts in order to force Russia to compensate for these losses. He stressed that it is very important to collect as much evidence as possible about the damage caused by the Russian occupation army.
