UN Human Rights Council approves investigation into Russian aggression against Ukraine

The UN Human Rights Council in Geneva voted to investigate violations during the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the press service of the Rada wrote.

"The Human Rights Council decided to urgently create an independent international commission of inquiry into Russia's aggression against Ukraine," the Rada press service reported.

It is reported that 32 member states of the Council voted in favor, two (Russia and Eritrea) voted against. Another 13 abstained from voting.

Earlier, Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova participated in the meeting. There in the framework of the 49th session of the UN Human Rights Council at the request of Ukraine held an urgent debate on the situation of human rights in Ukraine as a result of the invasion of our country by military forces of the Russian Federation.

"During her speech noted the human rights violations resorted to by the aggressor country, violating the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War," she wrote in her Telegram -channel.

On the evening of March 2, the UN General Assembly adopted a historic resolution condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine.
