The Secretary General once again addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin: Stop the war! The world, along with Ukraine, is calling for peace.
While visiting Estonia on Tuesday, the secretary general said: "NATO is a defensive alliance. We are not looking for conflict with Russia. Our message to President Putin: stop the war, withdraw all your forces from Ukraine and engage in diplomatic efforts in good faith. The world, together with Ukraine, calls for peace.
Stoltenberg assured that the alliance stands with the people of Ukraine at this critical time, who are "fighting bravely against the brutal and unprovoked Russian invasion." "We strongly condemn the Kremlin's war," he stressed.
The secretary general recalled that allies have already imposed serious sanctions on Russia, and the alliance itself has increased its presence throughout the North Atlantic Alliance "for deterrence and protection." "And we are increasing our support to help Ukraine defend itself. NATO allies are sending Ukraine anti-tank weapons, air defense missiles and ammunition, as well as millions of euros worth of financial and humanitarian aid," Stoltenberg added.
