The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine states that all Ukrainian defenders of Zmiinyi Island (Odesa region), which was captured by the aggressor, may be alive.
"Russian media reported that Ukrainian servicemen who were on the island were taken to Russian-occupied Sevastopol. Preliminary information that there may be dead among the border guards came before contact with the defenders was lost," the Facebook post said.
It is noted that currently, after receiving information about the likely location of the defenders, the State Border Service together with the AFU is working to identify our soldiers.
"We sincerely hope the guys will return home as soon as possible, and the information received at the time of the attack about the deaths will not be confirmed. Glory to the Ukrainian defenders!" - said in the message.As reported, on February 24, the aggressor fired from the ship weapons and used combat aviation on the border guards and soldiers of the AFU on Zmiinyi Island.
