Already in the first hours after the Russian aggression began, protests against the war and in support of Ukraine were held in various countries around the world.
Several thousand people gathered in the center of Prague on Wenceslas Square with posters in different languages with the inscriptions "Freedom to Ukraine", "Russians against the war. We are ashamed of the crimes of Putin's regime".
An action in support of Ukraine was held in Sri Lanka in the city of Mirissa. There Russians sewed Ukrainian flags and went to the ocean shore with posters "No to War", "Russians Don't Want War".
In Berlin, people gathered at the Brandenburg Gate, which was illuminated with the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Anti-war actions were also held in Austria, Spain, Canada, Latvia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Japan.
In Vilnius, a citizen of Belarus and Russia - musician Timote Souladze - burned his Russian passport in front of the country's embassy in protest.
At the action in Almaty, Kazakhstan, about a dozen people who came to the building of Russian consulate were detained.
The participants held Ukrainian flags and chanted: "Hands off Ukraine!", "Ukraine is independent," and "No to War!" Forty minutes after the start of the rally, the protesters were rudely detained by the police and placed in the arriving paddy wagon.
A significant rally was held by residents of Georgia. Numerous people marched in support of Ukraine through the streets of Tbilisi.
