The OSCE is evacuating all of its staff from Ukraine. U.S. diplomats have also left

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said it would temporarily evacuate all members of its international mission from Ukraine as soon as possible, according to Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid, published Thursday.

Schmid said the decision to withdraw OSCE staff from Ukraine was made "because of the ongoing hostilities and the deteriorating security situation in the country."

"The benevolence and courage of the OSCE staff is commendable. The OSCE promptly established the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in 2014, and the dedicated men and women of that mission have been our impartial eyes and ears on the ground across the country," Schmid said in a statement. - We have a legacy to be proud of in the country. We look forward to resuming our missions when circumstances permit."

The secretary general added that the decision "was not made lightly, and the move should be temporary."

"The safety of dedicated women and men who serve as the impartial eyes and ears of the international community on the ground throughout the country is critical," she said.

Also, no more U.S. diplomats are on Ukrainian soil. According to CNN, State Department officials confirmed this information.

U.S. diplomats used to spend nights in Poland and their working days in Lviv. But after the Russian aggression began, the diplomats simply did not return to Lviv.

"There are currently no plans for them to return to Ukraine anytime soon, officials say," according to the CNN story.

According to the State Department, consular services in Lviv have also been discontinued since February 24, just as they have been discontinued in Kiev since February 12.
