"The situation today on the territory of the Sumy region is difficult. Now there are fights in the city of Akhtyrka, there was a fight in Konotop, near Sumy, the city of Glukhov passed "in transit"... Russian troops control the highway from the border with Russia - the Kiev-Moscow highway - to the Chernihiv region, to Baturin for sure," Zhivitsky said in a video message.
The mayor said that the cities of Bilopolye, Buryn and others are under threat of occupation. But the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to fight back.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine fight back. The enemy in the case of a serious response begins to retreat, there are dead and wounded from the aggressor country. As of today, equipment and military have already, according to our information, entered Sumy. Therefore, I ask everyone to take measures to ensure their own safety", - he said.
Zhivitsky added that the infrastructure of the city suffered serious losses. Gas pipelines are on fire, and emergency services have no way to get there.
Meanwhile, it also became known that in the same Sumy region the Ukrainian military disarmed 15 enemy tanks.
