UN Secretary-General António Guterres, against the background of Russia's "recognition" of the so-called "L/DPR" in eastern Ukraine and permission to introduce troops there for "peacekeeping functions," said the concept of peacekeeping was perverted.
"I am concerned about the perversion of the concept of peacekeeping. When troops from one country enter the territory of another without its consent, they are not objective peacekeepers. They are not peacekeepers at all," Guterres pointed out on Twitter.

When troops of one country enter the territory of another country without its consent, they are not impartial peacekeepers.
They are not peacekeepers at all.
The UN Secretary General expressed his deep concern about the recent developments around Ukraine.
"At this critical moment, I call for an immediate ceasefire and the restoration of the rule of law. We need restraint and intelligence. We need de-escalation now," he added.
A day earlier, the U.N. secretary general said he was strongly concerned about Russia's decision on the status of parts of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions. "We continue to fully support Ukraine's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders," Guterres said.
