The OSCE SMM recorded 189 ceasefire violations in Donetsk region and 402 violations in Luhansk region. This is stated in the daily report #37/2022 published by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) on February 17.
"In Donetsk region, the SMM recorded 189 ceasefire violations, including 128 explosions (13 explosions from initial fire and 115 explosions of uncertain origin)," the report reads.
Most violations were reportedly recorded in areas to the north, east and northwest of the Donetsk filtration plant (DFS; 15 km north of Donetsk), to the south of Staromykhailivka (non-government-controlled, 15 km west of Donetsk), and to the southeast and southwest of Gladosovo (government-controlled, 51 km northeast of Donetsk).
During the previous reporting period, 24 ceasefire violations were recorded in this area.
"In Luhansk region, the mission recorded 402 ceasefire violations, including 188 explosions of undetermined origin," the report said.
Most of the violations were recorded within and near the disengagement area near Zolote (government-controlled, 60 km west of Luhansk).
The SMM also recorded five explosions from artillery fire at the firing range near Shymshynivka (not controlled by the government, 27 km south-west of Luhansk), which were estimated to have occurred as part of a live-fire exercise outside the security zone.
We note that it became known that the militants are planning to evacuate occupied Donetsk. The Ukrainian Armed Forces assert that they are not planning any offensive operations.
