More than nine hours of talks by the Normandy Quartet advisors. What they agreed on

On the night of February 11, the negotiations at the level of political advisors to the leaders of the Normandy format member states ended in Berlin.

According to the press service of the Ukrainian president, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office Andriy Yermak took part in the talks on behalf of Ukraine.

"This was already the second meeting since the beginning of this year. Negotiations between the representatives of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia lasted more than nine hours," the Official Internet Representative Office of the President of Ukraine said.

At a briefing at the end of the meeting in Berlin, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine noted that as a result of the second meeting the parties did not adopt any common document.

He said that the work will continue, the parties confirmed that they are willing to continue the discussion and announced a new meeting soon.

Political advisers to the Normandy Format leaders expressed their commitment to the ceasefire and reaffirmed their determination to continue talks.

"Another discussion took place today ... All sides confirmed that we are determined to continue these negotiations, which is very important. And everyone is interested in the negotiations in the Normandy format. Also, everyone was unanimous in the fact that it is necessary to unblock and intensify the work in the Trilateral Contact Group," said the head of the OP Andriy Yermak.

Yermak noted that during the meeting the issue of unblocking the work of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral contact group on the peaceful settlement of Donbas was discussed.

"Today we have several successful cases when decisions were made regarding the ceasefire regime. Therefore, the work continues. I think that after all, we will achieve this desired and so important for everyone result," he said.

Also Andriy Yermak noted at the briefing for the media that Ukraine is not against moving the meetings of the Trilateral Contact Group to Turkey.

"Today this meeting takes place in the format of a video conference. So as soon as it becomes possible to talk about face-to-face meetings... We heard about such a proposal from Turkish partners, we gladly accepted it. If all parties agree, Ukraine will be ready to meet in Turkey in order to continue negotiations," Yermak said.

According to the representative of the Russian side, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak, the negotiations in Berlin ended without tangible results.

"Unfortunately, the negotiations ended without tangible results," Interfax quoted Kozak as saying.

He said that Moscow hopes that Kiev will not go for a forceful solution to the conflict in Donbas.

"It is hard to say to what extent Kiev is ready to try to solve the conflict in Donbas by military means. Let's hope that Kiev 'has enough prudence' not to start hostilities against its own citizens on the other side of the line of contact," Kozak said.

According to Kozak, Berlin and Paris understand the need for dialogue between Kiev and representatives of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, but do not show sufficient firmness on this issue.

"The Minsk agreements provide for the resolution of the conflict through dialogue with representatives of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. European partners from Germany and France are sympathetic to our position on the need for dialogue, but I did not see a willingness to show enough firmness, to put pressure on Kiev in this matter," Kozak said.

We shall remind you that for the first time in 2022, the advisors of the Normandy quartet met in Paris on January 26. The conversation lasted almost eight hours then.
