Ukraine's Normandy Format Proposals

Ukraine's Normandy Format Proposals

The office of the President of Ukraine has published a number of proposals to be made by the President's representatives at the meeting in Berlin today.

"One of the goals of the Ukrainian side at the talks of the political advisers of the leaders of the Normandy Format member states will be to unblock the work of the Trilateral Contact Group in order to further advance in a peaceful settlement and end the war in Donbas," said Andrey Yermak, whose words are cited by the official telegram channel of the head of state.

In addition, the Ukrainian side will propose initiatives to improve the verification of the full ceasefire in the east of the country, as well as the issue of "unblocking the process of mutual release of detainees" and the opening of entry-exit checkpoints on the line of separation.

As frontnews reported, the expert community is skeptical about the possibility of an agreement on the exchange of prisoners, because Putin has not made such "gifts" to Ukraine since 2019.

"If something of this kind is going to happen, it means something happened and somewhere we made concessions," political scientist and Director of the Center for Research of Civil Society Problems Vitaly Kulik told frontnews.
