Ukraine has approved a candidate for the post of US ambassador. The American side offered Brigitte Brink for the post. This is reported by the UNN with reference to CBS News.

Now Brink is the Ambassador to Slovakia. This position she has held since 2019. Previously, Brink worked at the US National Security Council.

Ukraine is now preparing official documents for the State Department, as soon as they are received, the Biden administration should notify Congress. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken discussed Brink's candidacy with Ukrainian officials this month during his visit to Kiev.

The post of head of the U.S. Embassy in Kiev has been vacant since May 2019, when previous Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch was recalled to Washington. Yovanovitch was appointed to Ukraine in 2016 while the 44th U.S. President Barack Obama was still in office. In May 2019, she left the post at the personal request of then-head of state Donald Trump, he accused her of disloyalty.
