Security Council will put pressure on Russia - U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN

US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield has said that the Security Council will put pressure on Russia to discuss a build-up of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. This is reported by the UNN, citing The Associated Press.

"Our voices (U.S. and allied) are united in calling on the Russians to give an explanation. We are ready to listen to them (Russians), but we will not be distracted by their propaganda," Thomas-Greenfield noted.

Thomas-Greenfield stressed that the Security Council is ready to put pressure on Russia because it fears its invasion of Ukraine.

It should be noted that the U.S. is calling a meeting of the UN Security Council on Russia's "threatening behavior" and "Russian troop buildup on the borders of Ukraine and Belarus."

Russia said it could call a vote to prevent a UN Security Council meeting convened on Monday at the request of the United States to discuss the Russian troop build-up on the border with Ukraine.
