Ukraine should participate in the negotiations on security in Europe - Blinken

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has called Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov before his visit to Ukraine. He said that Ukraine must take part in the negotiations on security in Europe.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, with reference to Twitter journalist The National Joyce Karam.

Blinken and Lavrov reportedly discussed the outcome of strategic stability talks held last week. The secretary of state stressed the importance of diplomatic contacts to reduce tensions around the Russian military buildup near Ukraine's borders.

"The secretary of state reiterated the unwavering U.S. commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and stressed that any discussion of European security must include NATO allies and European partners, including Ukraine," the report said.

We shall remind you that earlier it was reported that Blinken will visit Ukraine on 19 January and will hold meetings with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
