Ukraine and Germany aim to hold a summit of the Normandy Quartet leaders - Kuleba

The goal of diplomats from the FRG and Ukraine is to hold a summit of the leaders of the Normandy quartet on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this on January 17 at a joint briefing after a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock.

"We discussed the dynamics of the diplomatic settlement of the conflict. Our joint goal is the effective work of the Normandy format, holding a summit of the leaders of the Normandy format," Kuleba said. - "We, Ukraine together with Germany, are committed to a diplomatic solution to this conflict, and I am grateful to the new government for a very active position and attempts to actually bring Russia back to the negotiating table.

Berbock assured that the FRG and France will do everything possible to restart the Normandy format of talks on Donbas.

"With French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian we talked about that we will do everything to restart and fill the Normandy format with life," the German foreign minister said.

Kuleba also announced the visit of Le Drian and Berbock to Ukraine in the near future.

"We will have a trilateral meeting, and there we will discuss in detail the prospects of a meeting of all four foreign ministers in the Normandy format... It is important that neither Berlin nor Paris make any decisions on Ukraine without Ukraine and do not play any games behind our backs in relations with Russia," the Ukrainian minister stressed.

Berbock's visit to Ukraine takes place on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Germany. On 18 January, the German foreign minister will hold talks in Moscow.
