President Volodymyr Zelensky in a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that a preventive package of sanctions against Russia should be introduced without delay in order to prevent further Kremlin aggression.
This was reported by the Official Internet Office of the President of Ukraine.
Zelensky in the conversation said that the position of Western countries in the dialogue with the Russian Federation must remain tough and decisive, and that it is necessary to be ready for the immediate introduction of a preventive package of sanctions against Russia to counter the aggressive intentions of the Kremlin.
Noting the role of Ukraine's friends and partners in resolving the situation and preventing an escalation of Russian aggression, Zelensky stressed that no decisions on Ukraine should be made without Ukraine.
Against the backdrop of current security challenges, Zelensky told Johnson about the situation around Ukraine.
Separately, he emphasized the steps being taken to achieve peace within the existing negotiating formats.
Zelensky briefed Johnson on the measures taken by the Ukrainian side to intensify the negotiation process within the Normandy format. He also reported on Ukraine's peace initiatives, in particular regarding the mutual dismissal of detainees.
