Pre-trial investigation agencies expect a measure of restraint to be chosen for the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, on the day of his return to Ukraine.

The GBI warned that the evasion of the duties of the suspect and failure to appear in court may give grounds for the investigating judge to decide on a stricter measure of restraint. This is reported by the press service of the GBI.

"According to information from the media, the fifth President of Ukraine plans to return to Ukraine on January 17, 2022. Therefore, the bodies of the pre-trial investigation expect to carry out all necessary procedural actions on the day of his return, including the election of a preventive measure," - said in the message of the GBI.

The SBU stressed that according to Article 24 of the Constitution of Ukraine, all citizens, including people's deputies, are equal before the law.
