Talks between Russia and NATO are over

The meeting of the Russia-NATO Council took place in Brussels. The sides discussed the situation near the Ukrainian borders, in particular the threat of Russian invasion. This, referring to the briefing of the US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, reports RBC-Ukraine.

U.S. Undersecretary of State Sherman said that at the Russia-NATO council she stressed that "every country has the right to choose its own path."

The sides discussed increasing openness with regard to military exercises and avoiding accidental clashes that could provoke a conflict, as well as arms control with regard to missiles in Europe. Russia also raised the issue of its "security guarantees."

The meeting will be followed by a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on January 13.
