Protesters in the Kazakh city of Taldykorgan knocked down a monument erected in honor of the country's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, reports Delovaya Stolitsa.
The monument was installed in 2016.
The video shows that the demolition of the monument to the former president took place amid cheers, applause and songs.
Sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Nazarbayev "is ready to leave Kazakhstan for medical treatment. About 10 private planes have already flown out of Kazakhstan since January 5.
Meanwhile, the situation in Kazakhstan has escalated substantially. Local media are reporting on the seizure of the airport of the former capital. The airport said there would be no flights today. Aktau airport also shut down amid protests.
Participants in the rallies in Kazakhstan have made demands on the authorities.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev in his address announced that he dismissed Nursultan Nazarbayev from the position of Chairman of the Security Council of Kazakhstan. He himself will head the Council.
