The deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Dmitry Kozak, will hold talks in Moscow on January 6 with political advisers in the Normandy format - the foreign policy adviser to German Chancellor Jens Plöthner and the diplomatic adviser to French President Emmanuel Bonne. The UNN reports this, citing TASS, which refers to a source in the Russian administration.
"Deputy head of the Russian presidential administration Dmitry Kozak will hold talks in Moscow on January 6 with political advisers in the Normandy format - foreign policy adviser to Chancellor Jens Plöthner of Germany and diplomatic adviser to French President Emmanuel Bonne. The meeting will be held at the invitation of the Russian side," the statement said.
The "Normandy format" to resolve the situation in Donbas includes Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany. Ukraine was not mentioned in the context of these negotiations in Russia.
Earlier, the German side reported that the meeting of the German Chancellor's foreign policy advisor with colleagues from France and Russia will take place this week.
German government spokesman Steffen Hebeestreit announced that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's foreign policy adviser and his French counterpart will meet "this week" with their Russian counterpart. Both will also hold talks with the Ukrainian government this week, the newspaper wrote.
There is very close contact between the U.S. and its European allies, both government spokesman and German foreign ministry spokesman stressed, taking into account a telephone conversation between U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin late last year.
