President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the Law "On ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on Ukraine's participation in the program "Creative Europe" (2021-2027)" № 1963-IX adopted by the Parliament on December 15, 2021.
This law ratifies the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on the participation of our country in the program "Creative Europe", signed on October 12, 2021 in Kiev, reports the official website of the President of Ukraine.
Ukraine has been taking part in the mentioned program of the European Union since 2016, which resulted in 38 international projects with the participation of Ukrainian organizations in cooperation with 117 partner institutions from 29 countries of Europe. Ukraine's foreign policy strategy envisages continuing active cooperation with the EU in scientific, educational and cultural spheres, among other things through participation in the EU program "Creative Europe" and others.
Joining the program will require our state to pay a financial contribution consisting of an operational fee and a participation fee in the form of an annual payment.
The determination of the financial contribution is based on a dynamic formula that takes into account the ratio of Ukraine's GDP at market prices to the EU's GDP at market prices. According to preliminary calculations of the European Union, the financial contribution of our country, particularly in 2022, may amount to 883 thousand euros. Payment will be provided at the expense of allocations provided to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy in the state budget.
Continuation of our country's participation in the EU program "Creative Europe" till 2027 will promote the strategic course of Ukraine's gaining full membership in the European Union through active cooperation in the field of culture.
The country's participation in one of the largest cultural and humanitarian programs of the European Union provides additional incentives and opportunities for the development of culture and creative industries and creates the basis for the involvement of Ukraine in pan-European cultural processes.
