Yuri Vlasenko plans to increase electricity production by 2.5% next year

"The new forecast balance for 2022 provides for an increase in electricity production by 2.5% - up to 161 billion kWh," said First Deputy Minister of Energy Yuriy Vlasenko.

Nuclear power generation is to produce 52% of the country's electricity - nearly 84 billion kWh. Moreover, in January-February 2022, the load on the nuclear power plants will increase by almost 22% compared to the same period in 2021.

The volume of renewable energy in the forecast balance for 2022 is also increased by 21% compared to 2021. It will be up to 15 billion kWh.

Thermal power plants are to produce 42 billion kWh in 2022, CHPPs and cogeneration - 9.8 billion kWh, HPPs and hydroelectric power plants - a total of 8.6 billion kWh.

To date, the main load in the Ukrainian energy system is carried by nuclear power generation. As of November 26, 13 out of 15 nuclear power units operate, which have a load of about 12 thousand MW.

Thermal generation is supplied with the necessary energy resources to balance the power system.

"Coal is supplied rhythmically. The supply volume during November should be about 1.8 million tons of coal, of which more than 1.5 million tons is our own coal and about 300 thousand tons is imported," said Yuri Vlasenko.
