U.S. President Joe Biden has invited representatives of 110 countries, including Ukraine, to a virtual summit for democracy. The list of invited countries does not include China, Russia and Turkey.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the website of the US Department of State.

The event, which will be held from December 9 to 10, will be joined by leaders of government, civil society and private sector. The talks will focus on the challenges and opportunities facing democracies.

"The summit will provide a platform for leaders to announce both individual and collective commitments, reforms and initiatives to protect democracy and human rights at home and abroad," the U.S. State Department points out.

Participants in the virtual meeting will be able to voice domestic and international initiatives on three key topics:

defending against authoritarianism;

countering and combating corruption;

promoting respect for human rights.

The summit will be attended by European Union member states, India, the Republic of South Africa, the Philippines, Georgia, Lithuania, and Latvia, among others.
