Georgian authorities offer former President Mikheil Saakashvili to continue treatment at Gori military hospital. This was announced by Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze at a press conference.
According to the minister, in case of his transfer from Tbilisi to Gori, Saakashvili should stop his hunger strike and the opposition should give up destructive actions - in particular, protests near the clinic.
"We propose his transfer to the Defense Ministry's Georgy Abramishvili military hospital. This is the place where his health and life will be best protected by the state," Bregadze said.
The Justice Minister also added that after the end of his treatment Saakashvili will continue to serve his sentence in the Rustavi prison. Bregadze also claims that all the rights of Saakashvili have been protected since his detention and that the politician himself has failed to comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR called on the ex-president to stop his hunger strike).
