The telephone conversation between the President of Ukraine and the President of Turkish Republic took place today, on November 17. This is stated on the official website of the head of state.
On the part of the President of Ukraine Turkey's support of Ukrainian independence, sovereignty, integrity and inviolability of territories, as well as participation in the "Crimean platform" was highly appreciated.
In addition, the Ukrainian head of state sincerely thanked Erdogan for his condolences for the Ukrainian servicemen killed in the east of the country.
Volodymyr Zelenski focused during the conversation on the dismissal of Ukrainian citizens illegally retained by the Russian Federation.
The sides also expressed their views on the current security situation in the region and the need to take measures to strengthen security in the Black Sea region.
Another topic for discussion was the defense partnership between the two countries, the strategic nature of which has already contributed to the strengthening of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Turkey. The sides also discussed important projects in aircraft construction, naval development and prospects for strengthening partnerships in these areas.
Volodymyr Zelenski shared with Recep Tayyip Erdogan the news that Ukraine had started serial production of the AN-178 transport aircraft.
"I invite Turkey to join the circle of its customers," said the President of Ukraine.
In the near future, the heads of both states plan to bring to the final point the preparation of an agreement on a free trade zone. This was also mentioned in the conversation between the leaders. They also touched upon the implementation of bilateral agreements, including the construction of housing for the Crimean Tatar people. Among other things the Presidents discussed energy partnership and ways of diversifying energy supplies.
According to the agreement reached during the conversation, the 10th meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council will be held next year in February. The jubilee meeting will be held in Kyiv. But it is necessary to be well-prepared for that event. Among the preparations was the second meeting of the Quadriga among the foreign and defense ministers, which is to be held in December of this year.
