Full engineering arrangement of the Ukrainian border with Belarus will cost UAH 7 billion, the arrangement of at least the most dangerous ten sections needs 189 million. Such data was announced on Monday by the director of the Department of Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Artem Shevchenko, writes UNN.
"The length of the 10 most dangerous sections for mass crossing by illegal immigrants from the North is 270 km of the entire 1,084-kilometer border with the Republic of Belarus. Only to close these 270 km at least the simplest engineering fence - a spiral barbed wire "Egoza" - need 189 million dollars. And the entire full engineering arrangement (moat, vandal-proof fence, surveillance towers and the road) of the border with Belarus - UAH 7 billion," Shevchenko wrote in Facebook.
He reminded that Ukraine and Belarus have had a readmission agreement in force since last year, which means that illegal migrants, who have entered the territory of Ukraine from Belarus, must be deported back and Belarus will be obliged to accept them.
In addition, according to Shevchenko, the State Border Guard Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine already have successful experience of such deterrence at the border from this direction. We are talking about the arrival of Hasidic pilgrims from the territory of Belarus in September 2020.
"But the border in both the north and the east still need to urgently build and allocate resources for this," said the director of the communication department of the Interior Ministry.
Recall, November 8, the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border escalated. Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that the country put troops on alert along the border because of the tense situation with migrants. A large group of illegal immigrants tried to break into the country. Shots were heard at the border. Belarusian border guards said that they sounded from the Polish side.
On the night of November 10th two groups of migrants broke into Poland from Belarus and were detained. Also, a breakthrough of a small group was recorded on November 13.
