Head of Bundestag energy committee against Ukraine's participation in Nord Stream-2 certification

The head of the Bundestag energy committee, Klaus Ernst, has said that Ukraine should not take part in the certification of Nord Stream 2. According to him, its only task is to pay the gas bills. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine.

According to the head of the energy committee of the Bundestag, Poland also should not influence the certification of "Nord Stream - 2".

"Why should we take her into account? Excuse me, Poland gets gas transit fees paid for by German consumers. If Poland needs the money, it should go to the EU, not demand it from German consumers," Ernst said.

He said Nord Stream 2 should be launched as soon as possible, it would supposedly help lower gas prices in Germany.

"If more gas enters the market, demand will stabilize and prices will come down. Right now the supply does not meet the high demand," Ernst said.

As a reminder, at the end of October, "Operator GTS Ukraine" submitted an application for participation in the certification of the operator of the gas pipeline to the Federal Network Agency of Germany. A decision on the application should be made by the end of this week.
