Saakashvili's mother: My son is no longer in jail in Rustavi

The mother of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Giuli Alasania, claims her son is no longer in Rustavi Prison No. 12.

"The prison management ignored everything, snatched my son in front of our eyes and took him somewhere. The fact is that they took him out recently in armored cars, then put him in a helicopter, but where they took him, I don't know, we'll see," said Giuli Alasania.

The helicopter had been seen shortly before at the Rustavi prison, where Saakashvili had been serving his sentence since his arrest on October 1.

Front News reports that Saakashvili has allegedly been transferred to the Gori military hospital. Saakashvili's physician Nikoloz Kipshidze said earlier today that the medical board, which met this afternoon to assess Saakashvili's health on the 39th day of his hunger strike, recommended that he be "immediately transferred" to a private clinic.
