Metropolitan: Mikhail Saakashvili confessed and received communion

Metropolitan of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdo and Kari Nikoloz Pachuashvili said that today he visited the prison, where the former president of Georgia is being held, and gave Mikheil Saakashvili communion. The metropolitan called the day "historic," the Novosti-Georgia news agency reported.

"He received holy communion. I gave him the communion of the blood and flesh of Christ - bread crumbs soaked in wine. This is a historic day - it is often said of him that he must repent. Repentance, from a Christian perspective, is an action. It is not crocodile tears or a fake confession to keep a man out of prison.

This is a man who was the sole ruler of Georgia for nine years, who returned to Georgia nine years later of his own free will, went to prison and fasted for 40 days, he fasted a "dry fast." After that, he confessed and took communion. If anyone thinks this is no big deal, let him try fasting for 40 days and see for himself what it's like," the Metropolitan said.
