Georgia's third president Mikhail Saakashvili addressed the protesters in Batumi. The letter of the former head of state was read out at the rally by opposition mayoral candidate Georgy Kirtadze.

"God really won't kill me so that I won't walk down the boulevard of victorious Batumi with my head held high at least once," Saakashvili said in the appeal.

According to the former president, all ways back are already blocked, and the "salvation of the motherland" has no alternative.

"Therefore, everyone must unite, even those who have so far observed the processes only from the outside. You have already defeated Ivanishvili by a wide margin, as witnessed by the whole of Georgia and all international observers. Now we must bring this fight to an end," Saakashvili wrote.

Recall that Batumi was the first city where the protest announced by the opposition took place. It was attended by leaders of various parties, including the chairman of the United National Movement Nika Melia, founder of Droa! ("It's about time!") Elene Khoshtaria, leaders of "Lelo for Georgia" party Mamuka Hazaradze and Badri Japaridze. Then rallies will take place in other cities, and on Saturday, November 6, there will be a large-scale anti-government rally in Tbilisi.
