The government described Ukraine's expectations from the climate summit, which will take place in Glasgow in early November.
This is reported in an article, which appeared on the website of "EP" in the framework of the special project "Glasgow. A new point of climate countdown" with the support of UBTA, MHP and DTEK.
In particular, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Olga Stefanishina said that from the international climate negotiations in Glasgow, the government expects to agree on ambitious and systematic measures that will help each of the participating countries to achieve their climate goals.
"In particular, it is important to successfully conclude negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on the creation of market and non-market mechanisms to reduce carbon emissions. This decision is necessary for the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement, and therefore for Ukraine to meet its obligations," Stefanyshyna said.
The deputy prime minister noted that in July, the government approved the NVQ-2 to reduce emissions by 65 percent by 2030 from 1990 levels.
"This is our contribution to the global movement toward full decarbonization to counteract climate change," Stephanishina added.
In addition, Kiev intends to join at least four environmental initiatives at the summit: The Global Initiative to Reduce Methane Emissions; the Declaration on Forest and Land Use; the Green Network Initiative - One Sun, One World, One Network; and the Industrial Transition Leadership Group Initiative.
Ukraine also plans to join the statement on the global transition from coal to clean energy.
