U.S. President Joe Biden signed a statement on the introduction of new rules for air travel to the United States. The rules include the introduction of a vaccination requirement for travelers, as well as the removal of restrictions on travel from most countries in Europe, as well as from China, India, Brazil, etc.
"It is in the interest of the United States to move away from the country-specific restrictions imposed earlier during the COVID-19 pandemic and to implement vaccine-based rules to safely resume international air travel to the United States," Biden wrote in a statement.
Under the rules, effective Nov. 8, foreigners wishing to enter the United States will be required to provide a type of COVID-19 vaccination before boarding a plane.
Vaccinations given with vaccines registered by the United States and the World Health Organization will be taken into account.
Travelers who have been fully vaccinated will also be required to present a negative coronavirus test. The test must be done no earlier than three days before boarding.
Those who have not been vaccinated and fall under an exception to the rules must give a negative test result made the day before departure.
